January 5th to January 10th, 2014 — The Art of Empathy at Kripalu!

August 26, 2013

The Art of Empathy
Learning How to Balance Connection, Self-Awareness, and Healthy Intimacy

Empathy is possibly your most essential skill, yet many of us trip over it because we weren’t taught how it works. In this week-long program at the delightful Kripalu retreat center in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, you’ll join empathy pioneer Karla McLaren in an experiential exploration of The Art of Empathy. No matter where you start — whether you’re highly empathic or whether you’re having difficulty accessing your empathy — you’ll learn how to work with empathy in grounded and accessible ways.

This retreat has already happened! If you’d like to join another retreat, Karla will be teaching at Hollyhock from June 6th to June 11th, 2014. Learn more here.

In this week-long program, you’ll explore:

  • The Six Essential Aspects of Empathy and how to work with each one
  • A unique empathic approach to emotions and social intelligence that will make your empathy much easier to understand
  • Five Empathic Mindfulness Skills to help you live more comfortably, empathically, and authentically
  • Specific empathic communication skills to nurture healthy empathy in your relationships at home, and work, and in your community
  • Numerous self-soothing skills to help you access your empathy in challenging situations
  • Ideas and practices to help you create healthy empathic environments at home and at work — for yourself, your children, your family, and your co-workers

If your empathy is too intense, you’ll learn how to manage it more comfortably, and if empathy is confusing for you, you’ll learn how to understand it more clearly. No matter where you start, you’ll learn how to balance connection and intimacy with self-awareness, and you’ll learn how to develop healthy empathy!

Hi Karla.
I’m just feeling so happy to find you on YouTube that happened to pop up. And I’m overwhelmed with feeling of gratitude to God to get to know you and your study because I have been waiting for somebody or something that could really understand me.
I’ve had a difficulty of dealing with people especially in the place where I work. I strongly feel stress, hatred, jealousy which come from others.

I have purchased Mp3 of art of empathy.
I want to learn more from you.
Thank you.
And many blessings upon you!

Hello Cotoyo! I’m glad my work is feeling helpful to you. There are things you can do about your sensitivity to emotion, and The Art of Empathy will give you some good ideas for taking care of yourself at work, too. You may want to check into the first of the Six Essential Aspects of Empathy, which is Emotion Contagion. Blessings!
