I think you should send Mr. Ekman your book, Karla! He is doing his scientific work on the emotions academically & assiduously, but I think he's personally looking for what you've been doing. He would appreciate a lot, I suspect!

Hi,Karla That is so on target to put a spin Paul's notion on that word,it's what I feel is not given in the articulation.I do find it helpful to your point of view to work with the gap between impulse/intensity/habitual-reaction/action to emotion , I use it to ListenDeeply to what the message/infro is the emotion is conveying. In fact typing this right now in fact feel/think that's the missing link I link to what they are articulating, but missing.Paul does speak with you on not assigning +/- value to the emotions when studying them.So all & all it's raising the discussion to a level that's very Important at this time. Are we on the same page in the same book? He,He ,Ha,Ha PeaceBeUponYou,LaughingStumpf-Mike

Hi Michael,

I'm reading the book now (with 3 others, back and forth), and I'm liking it so far, even though the conversational aspect is sometimes a bit clunky. I'm thinking, and you can laugh, that my work might be the missing link, because so many approaches to the emotions are about calming the body and the mind and just observing the emotion instead of engaging with it and learning what it's for.

What I've found is that because I know what the emotions are for and what they mean, I can be with them as a friend, rather than needing to calm myself because of their presence. Does that make sense?

Hi, Karla what a wonderful teaching you share, been a student for ten years. I like your way of sharing & honoring the person. I would like your feelings/thoughts on the book Emotional Awareness by the Dalai Lama & Paul Ekman; the conversation between them seems to be a support to your work? Peace Be Upon You, LaughingStumpf-Mike
