Letting go, relaxing, and rejuvenating: These are the gifts of sadness
Online course starts Monday, August 27th at Empathy AcademyLearn more or register here
I’ve been observing the emotions on the left and the right here in the U.S., and it pretty much goes like this: Anger, fear, panic, hatred, depression, despair, and then it starts again at anger. These are all valuable emotions when you know how to regulate them, but if you don’t, they can pile up and interfere with your mood, your relationships, and your social world.
Something crucial is missing. An emotion that I’m not seeing very often is healthy sadness, which is a healing force of almost magical proportions. Sadness is the amazing down-regulator of the emotional realm.
Your healthy sadness can help you let go of things that don’t work, ideas that are outdated, and attitudes that don’t help you. When you allow your sadness to help you let go, you can make room for things that DO work, ideas that are fresh and new, and attitudes that have value and can lead you to new and worthwhile places.
Your ability to work with your sadness is also directly connected to your ability to feel happiness and joy. Surprise!
This month (August 27th), you can join the 4-week online course Befriending Sadness at Empathy Academy. This course is taught by double-licensed Dynamic Emotional Integration® Trainer and Consultant Anchen Texter, and it’s the perfect emotion to welcome in at this time.
Befriending your healing sadness and learning how to work with it is one of the most important things you can do for your emotional health, for your relationships, for your outlook, and for your social environment.
Welcome your healthy sadness; it will help you change everything for the better.
In this video, Anchen and I talk about the vital healing influence of sadness.
